Water

Water has well-established quantities that can be measured. That is why the association plans physical measurements here.

What we measure

Physical quantities of water can be determined precisely, for example electrical conductivity, pH value and temperature. The association plans series of measurements in which identical water samples are measured with and without an object, under the same conditions and repeated several times.

We publish the measurements in full, with the instrument, the conditions and all values, even when nothing changes. Measurements are taken on the water.

The objects for water

Water sphere made of metal, 200 millimetres

Water sphere

Diameter
200 millimetres
Construction
Metal sphere
In the experiment
Lies in a pool

The sphere lies in the water; the water around it is to be measured.

Water egg, open: two shells around a section of pipe

Water egg

Construction
Two shells that are placed around the outside of a pipe
In the experiment
On a pipe up to 2 inches

The water flows inside the pipe; the egg sits around the outside of the pipe and does not touch the water.

Plates with the Flower of Life in white, three sizes

Plate for glass and jug

Pattern
Flower of Life

A glass or a jug stands on the plate; next to it stands the same amount of water without a plate.

Research questions

What we investigate

  1. Do the conductivity, pH value or temperature of a water sample change when it stands near an object for a while, compared with an identical sample without an object?
  2. How large does a series of measurements have to be for a difference to be more than chance?
